In a Frenzied World

We plot and arrange and configure and plan. Keeping busy every ounce of second we can. Wearing down our heels on human hamster wheel. Dashing toward solid goals we can hardly feel. Then when death arrives, changing everything We quickly think a new way with a horrible sting. We forgot to cherish the moments so sweet Not enjoying the journey, or any kind of treat. We plot and arrange and configure and plan. But the rug gets pulled out by a larger hand. With a start we realize with great surprise We did not enjoy our hamburgers or our fries. We gobbled things down, we worked in a frenzy. We ran toward the future, not sure what the end ‘ll be. Dashing toward new goals, we forgot about enjoying today. Appreciation and hope is in our future, a much better way.

nicely done. It's great that some poets still occasionally endeavor to rhyme.

Well, I'm still roaring over enjoying the hamburger and French Fry.' Guess I'm living in the 'Now,' eh?!

Very well said, Caren. We can rush through the days, and strive onward to an extreme while missing simplicity and precious time in a day. And yes, the carpet can also be pulled out at any time, leading us to feel and act differently. Great poem :)

We rush, rush, rush, rush, rush, and regret later.
