In A Darkened Room

I'll give you an idea of what I'm thinking
let you into my darkest room
I'll hold your hand just to comfort
peel your eyes you'll see soon

in the silence of the night
sitting all on my own
I offer myself help
 and try lighten the gloom

Talking to myself
stacking thoughts on a shelf
in a darkened room
only light is my screen
in a darkened room
I 'm allowed to dream

In my mind I'm a superstar
been around the world
In my mind I'm superior
my flag has been unfurled

my dreams are ghosts in the dark
and they are haunting me
I'm still building a Noah's ark
and filling with my fantasies

Nothing outside these four walls
in my tiny prison cell
the world doesn't exist, thank god
so glad I'm on my own
In my darkened room

This is a deeply relatable and vivid poem, Dave. I really enjoyed how your use of rhyme creates a steady, musical flow that perfectly grounds the quiet isolation of the setting. The contrast between the physical confinement of the "darkened room" and the boundless nature of the mind—where you can travel the world and build an ark of fantasies—is wonderfully captured. The imagery of the glowing screen as the only light source is a fantastic modern detail that really sets the scene. Thank you for

Thank you for your heartfelt comment. It's actually a song. I haven't used poetry soup for a while. If you want to listen to other songs they are on YouTube under Kingdad Burlesque Girl, Girl in a coffee shop and ordinary Girl, etc. once these are found there are 30 or so others on Youtube. But thanks again very kind of you to notice my poem youtube.com/watch?v=JcJaK7vCjgY
