Impromptu

trying to
shake you
awake but my
arms aren't that long

a phone
call would be
as rude as an alarm
shaking awake from slumber

so i sit
out patiently
thinking about what
maybe but never knowing

what i might
slippingly say
without meaning
meaning i never know

what
i might
let from my
loose lips say
