Impressions
A picture of joy as she walked up the street
except she was wearing her miserable feet;
a joy to behold, a soul inspiring song,
but from the ankles her feet just dragged along.
Maybe she was wearing ill fitting shoes,
or maybe just a case of early morning blues,
but the bottom of her legs gave the impression
they were suffering from some severe depression.
She smiled as we passed and I raised my hat
and maybe, just maybe, it was a bit to do with that,
for as I turned to watch her walk away down the street
I was sure she was now wearing two happy feet.
A picture of joy as she walked up the street
except she’d been wearing her miserable feet;
a joy to behold, a soul inspiring song,
but from the ankles her feet had just dragged along.
