With these words on a page?
What was the reader trying to spy
As the words sliced through their eye?

What was the music trying to say
With the songs that play?
What was the listener trying to hear
As the sounds pierced through their ears?

What was the artist trying to tame
With the painting in the frame?
What was the viewer trying to find
As those images filled their minds?

What was the mirror trying to say
When it caught you looking gay?
What were you trying to look for
Catching light within a shadow?
