Impossibly Dear

Impossibly dear
Exhaustingly vain
Ever so clear
We’re playing her game

Abiding her rules
Riding her moods
She’ll brand us fools
If we dare elude

We’re all aware
All in the loop
No need to share
We have the scoop

No one refuses
Nobody talks back
The deceit that she uses
Dereails our tracks

It destroys our free thinking
And robs us of pride
Manipulative linking
That quiets our drive

And that is that
No questions to ask
Since our words would fall flat
And she’d have the last
