Imperfection

I was kind of a thinned skinned person
As to criticism I usually didn't take kindly
When it's somebody else, oh it was all in fun
But I didn't want any of that focus put on me

But there was always one exception to the rule
And that is where the Lord's Word is concerned
Call me a freak, a nut, or just a flat out fool
Not one word of defense will ever be returned

For unlike other criticism this did not sting
Unlike other criticism this did not cause pain
In hearing so my heart only began to sing(out)
With every word they said becoming the refrain

And in so doing and seeing the wake of my ways
Seeing how criticism is simply the pruning of our pride
And simply by being more meek how it certainly pays
But the most important thing being in Whom you abide

Vincent, I am who I am... I like the poem, as older we get, I'm sure we refine whom we are. I'm always look forward to reading your words, when I'm on line... xox..Linda
