Imperfect

Close your eyes
And stay very still
You will never again bend
To someone else’s will

Your value is much greater
than that tag you wear
You need to see yourself
As more than that rip or tear

We can mend the tiny marks
Fix the spots
And hide the fray
Underneath the knots

I promise
No one will see
I promise
Will you agree?

Or, maybe this once
Let me love you
Just as you are
Let me hold you

I will show you
Imperfections have their place
If you allow me
I will share with you my disgrace

Three days before my birthday this year, you posted this beautiful poem. I will claim it as a birthday gift for myself since I never had one. The way you embrace imperfections and offer unconditional love through this poem is truly touching. This kind of loving is my love language, but I also want to be loved in this way.
