Imitatio

patter the missus with cruel, angry wishes and deny her the weight of your soft, angel kisses Tell the girl on the street that her lying is weak But give none of the truth as you lie at my feet See, the world ain’t the way we been taught to behave some took that to mean we take all that we crave I’ve learned, though, that kindness is enough to quell meanness Even if only for the blink of a weekend I’ll pay you in smiles, pray you stay for awhile: Feed you and pet you and love your old style, eat with your mama and sing songs by the fire. I’ll thank the lord deeply. I’m no longer a liar!
