Image On the Screen

We move like
celluloid gods
      under a starry sky
as the story continues
We experience joy
      yet there are always questions
    nighttime echoes deeply
      in the corridors
of our torrid souls
      Tasting the dark
we run like panthers
       towards the light
and we are left
    with a vision of
tomorrow
    After all is said and
done
  All we really have
is ourselves
     let the chorus of
    dawn awaken us from
sleep
     Upon opening our
tired eyes
       we see the sun
Ninety three million miles away
         and very, very hot

Matthew, even though you include the darkness, you always end with optimism, a part of why I am drawn to your beautiful poetry. I find I believe your every word, as though you have a secret knowledge others do not. Love, Shar
