I'm turning German

Our medical system in Central Pa. needs a major tweak. Unfortunately the absence of care is daily growing more bleak.. I can't see my cardio. until nearly a week.. A shortage of primary's clearly exists. I'm currently on four waiting lists.. Drove to an e.r. yesterday to be seen when my b.p. went up to 216. Sat in a waiting room for over two hours as other patients conditions were much more dire. One young man clearly very sick waited to be seen with a rupturing appendix.. After two hours of waiting I decided to go, in hopes that my numbers would return to low, remembering something my brother said some time ago.. He said buy some beer it works you know. Never really developed a taste for beer but am drinking in the am and it works my dear.. High blood pressures are quite concerning, alternative methods I'm quickly learning. I'm almost certain I'm turning German.

Cute poem, I know the feeling when the numbers go up. In my case go lie down and try to nap to calm down. Stay well, never tried to drink to calm it down.

Hi Eve, Always great to hear from you. Actually my brother works in cardio-pulmonary in Va. and has for thirty years doing catheters on hearts. This is actually valid advise to bring the bp number down. I'm only suggesting 1 or 2 beers in lieu of caffeine, not being a lush. Have a blessed day and glad you enjoyed it.

I like how your poem effectively uses personal narrative, realistic imagery, and dark humour to highlight the shortcomings of the healthcare system in Central Pennsylvania. Your candid sharing of their experiences not only sheds light on your individual struggles but also resonates with a broader audience facing similar challenges. Through this blend of critique and humour, the poem invites readers to reflect on the urgent need for improvements in healthcare access and efficiency.

Hi Silent One, Apparently this is happening in a lot of less populated states in the U.S. I'm a little fatter after lying around for two and a half months recovering from my fractures so my b.p. is off the charts. Thanks for your in depth critique and yes I strive to find humor to get me thru the rough spots. Blessings to you and your wonderful poetic gift.

No wonder your BP is high! No beer for me but I would head for the cafe for a cuppa tea lol but the waiting lists for hospitals is getting longer and longer (although they are very good with my husband's cancer issues) and trying to get an appointment with a doctor locally is challenging - I've got one for 16th August! hugs Jan xx

Hi Jan, NO the beer brings it down girl. It's high as I was inactive for two months recovering from my pelvic fractures and got a touch fat I guess. I am sorry your husband is sick and I wish you both blessings of good health and strength to weather his current health crisis.

Hi Kim, I was briefly in the Bavarian part of Germany back in 1994 and I must have a European look due to genetics. I went to get breakfast and they were drinking at 8:00 am and I was told to spreken de deutch. Settled for bread with cheese and coffee. LOL
