I'M Sorry

I'm so sorry I wasn't there when you slipped away,
I battle with my guilt every single day.
I did come to see you, so I could kiss you goodbye,
I felt your soul had already left, I couldn't watch the rest of you die.
You had the stronger ones around you, they were there to hold your hand,
The pain of losing you, was more than I could stand.
I know you don't think any less of me,
You know that I will love you for all eternity.
The world lost a gentleman, the best I've ever known,
I carry our memories in my heart, so I never feel alone.
With your love for life and your Lion's heart,
As an influence on my life, you still have the leading part.
I miss your smile and laughter, your stories too,
I think about you every day, no matter what I do.
I know you walk beside me, to guide me on my way,
Grandad there's so much more, I would like to say.
You already know this and you know it's true,
I Love You with all my heart and I Miss You Too!

Such a beautiful and touching tribute to your Grandad, Kay. I can tell that he was very special in your life, and I'm sure he was just as proud of you. John

Oh John. Thank you ever so much for your kind words. You've made me emotional and I know you're correct in your comments. I believe he would be proud of the person I am today. Thank you once again. Kindest Regards Kay

Such a beautiful, emotive write that I can relate to. I believe that some prefer to pass over without loved ones on this side with them, to sheild us slightly from the suffering. They aren't really alone as loved ones on the other side are with them, happy to be reunited again.

Hi Elizabeth. Thank you for your kind words. He did have family around him, his four daughters were there, at least I know he wasn't alone. I did say my goodbyes, unfortunately though he wasn't conscious. I just couldn't bring myself to sit and watch. At least he's with my Grandma now, she was the love of his life. Thanks again. Kindest Regards.

Hi Jan, it's lovely to hear from you and thank you ever so much for your kind words. He was a gentleman and a force to be reckoned with. Anyone whoever met him, loved him. I know he's at peace and with the love of his life, that thought gives me peace of mind. Thanks again. Hugs back :) xx

Hello Heidi, how lovely to hear from you and thank you for your kind words. It took me six years to be capable of writing this one and another two years to share it. I wrote it for my Grandad, he passed away in 2009. He was my hero. Take Care :)
