I'm on my way

For so long, I didn't know
Why I was collecting
Metaphorical flowers and cards
Then it clicked
It was so when the day came
That I broke through all your pain
depression, loneliness
Abandonment and shame
Built by a scared, desperate kid
Who kept stacking little security bricks
To create a safe haven
Where, the remaining innocent parts
of her, could be hid
I didn't realize for a long time
I was learning new ways to live
To one day bring you them as gifts
To show you we know more now
Then we ever thought we could as a kid
So, I gathered and created useful tools
That I can use to break you out
I know it's long overdue
So I understand, if there are parts
In you that believed
 I, too, deserted you
 I didn't
I'm coming
 I promise
I will set you free
It's a shame you had to live
Behind a wall, created by me
So sweet girl, listen up
I am on my way
This is an unfavorable statement
I know we have heard hurt people say
But it's me
And I meant it when I said
One day, I would come to
Set you free
I promised you I would come back
I just needed to gain wisdom
To break down whatever was built by me
That no longer suits you now or elevates me
It's going to take some time to forgive
I don't blame you
That's fine, you have your right
I just need you to know
You are safe
You are not a mistake
You deserve to be happy
You don't need to
Shelter home for anymore hate
People are not perfect, sweet
Young me
I hope you know this today
I am going to protect you finally and
Set you free
You don't need a wall
We don't need to hide,
and you will never again need
to make yourself small in size
You are as big and purposeful as air
Bright and necessary as the sun that
Gently hugs every part of your being
Because you, sweet girl,
are worth receiving
You deserve to be loved
Say it with me
You deserve to be loved
To know you are
As beautiful as a panoramic view
Of a broad ocean, open to receiving love
You're worthy of freedom from your past
Or any old way your survival instincts
Forced you to act
I just needed you to know
I haven't forgotten about you
I am just making myself strong enough
To break through
I'm coming, I love you.
