I'M Not Doing This

There are many things in my memory But none will be quite so strong As the cruel words you said to me When I was on the phone It wasn’t that you called me names Or cussed, or put on me the blame For things that really aren’t my fault When I only needed you to call to talk It wasn’t the accusation of a threat Or any other cruel thing you said It wasn’t being cold to me That will live in my memory What will stay with me the longest What is hurting me the strongest Is that when I called you trying to repair The damage done, asking you to care Asking you to give me a reason to forgive You hung up on me after saying “I’m not doing this…”
