I'm Me

I’m still growing and always learning,
Stop comparing yourself to me.
Our journeys are not the same.
I am me and you are you,
No matter your point of view.

Incapable of living life,
In the shadow of your light.
The things that inspire you,
May not always inspire me too.

Every day is a new day
To reach for the white flames,
That burn in the distant night sky.
Make something possible
Out of what may seem impossible.

I'm not trying to assimilate,
Just learning how to be myself.
I may reflect you in a lot of ways,
Stare in a mirror, do you see my face?

Everyone has their own DNA.
The details that make an individual,
Are unique in every way.
I'm me and you're you
I refuse to bend over for you.

No one can change me,
But anyone can embrace me.
I am free to be me,
And that is all I want to be.
