She told it this way.....
He was standing in the corner of the bandstand
'Looking 'bout as cool as any guy can
He made his bass guitar, 'sound like a prairie caught on fire
I wonder if that hunk has got a girlfriend
His fingers stroked that Fender Precision
He did a double slide to get my vision
Then he winked at me and smiled, that showed a lotta style
That boy helped me make my decision
I've heard it said ol' hank can come up gunning
But Willy's negotiating for more money
Ricky did a double pump, Johnny let me get the jump
The play is on, I'm off and running
His look at first caught my eye
That really turned me on
The guy on second fiddle
Was busy looking at some blonde
They said catcher, throw her out
But they haven't seem me slide
And I'm gonna steal their bass man tonight
Yes I'm gonna steal their bass man tonight!
