I'Ll See You In My Dreams

Like a bird without a sky,
like a fish without a sea,
like a tree without leaves,
like a mountain spring that has run dry,
grief is the presence of love now gone,
I see you in my dreams from midnight on,
reluctantly awakening with morning bird song,
in their chorus I hear you say be strong,

like a planet without a sun to orbit,
like a puzzle piece that just won't fit,
like a house without windows or doors,
like a love story without amore,
grief is the company that I now keep,
for I shall never tire of tears to weep,
and cursing the Reaper who's soul did sweep,
and looking forward to being with you when I sleep.
