If You Make Me Choose You Have Already Made Your Choice

If I must ask you where your heart has gone,
Then it is no longer here—
Love should speak like morning light,
Without a tremor, pure and clear.

The silence between us hums with truth,
A note I cannot still—
If I must bid you measure love,
You’ve weighed it by your will.

I will not beg a broken flame
To burn against its need—
For love that waits upon command
Is not a love indeed.

Go gently, then—no words remain,
No tears can change the voice—
If I must make you choose, my dear,
You’ve already made your choice.
