If You Leave
If you leave
~~~~~~~~~~~
How should I say that I'm sorry?
When truly I've done nothing wrong
There are so many different ways
We as people express ourselves
When you are sad I know it
For you simply cry and cry
That is not my way; it’s not what I do
There's a place deep inside my being
That’s where I go its safe,
I endure wave after wave of anguish and torment
As the memories of countless sadistic deeds
Done to an innocent young child
Threaten to consume my mind and very soul
Is it any wonder that I can't speak to you?
With your constant desire for a conflict
In this place I am learning to banish the demons
Held in check behind an impregnable wall
One at a time it seems, but sometimes I fear
That my strength will eventually desert me
Thus this weight of my world
And should you choose to leave me
I will fight my battles as I always have,
Alone
