If You Knew

If you knew
 the way that life would go
 the experiences of its flow
 the laughter and the tears
 that would fall thru the years;
if you knew
 the path forseen
 that lay before you and me
 take the steps either right or left
 intentions filled with today's regret;
if you knew
 how life would play out
 that love and hate full of doubt
 reveal the moments not our best
 the memories now laid to rest;
if you knew
 what would you do?
 go back in time and change the way
 our lives were frayed.
