If You Catch My Drift

It's not fair of me To say I want you It's not fair of me to let you go Either way we're not happy And I just wanted you to know I just want you to be happy Get the cake the kiss and happy ending, I know I won't be the one you'll be with But you can still count on me, If you catch my drift We've been through a lot for a while Stars don't seem to shine as bright Been some dark days Want to let you know a lights in sight Cause you're gonna be happy Get the cake, the kiss, and happy ending Still won't be the one you're with You still got me though If you catch my drift Arguments, late nights, over exaggerated dumb fights I'll still be here For you I just want you to be happy Get your cake, the kiss, the happy ending, I know I won't be the one that you're with You always got me though, if you catch my drift.

That's true love right there - wanting the person you love to be happy even if it's not with you. You picked a great refrain with the line "Get your cake, the kiss, the happy ending."... it tells me that there's regret mixed in with it as well, even though you're trying your very best to be strong. There's a song you might like about this very topic - it's called You Could Be Happy by Snow Patrol... give it a listen :)

Awww thanks...Yeah, selfless love is the truest indeed. I loved how you picked up on the traces of sadness and regret in there. It's a hard thing not having something or someone you want. Oooo, I LOVE that song! ( Good music taste I see!)

I think that the hidden message is in the "drift" Nice poem, I enjoyed reading it. Thanks
