If You Can

If you can keep your head when all about you
Others lose the will to make a stand for right
To yourself always be honest and true
To let honor win over pride and its might

Others lose the will to make a stand for right
If you can master the art of diplomacy
To let honor win over pride and its might
Handle conflicts with careful democracy

If you can master the art of diplomacy
Not losing sight of the issues at hand
Handle conflicts with careful democracy
Not giving credence by any man’s demand

Not losing sight of the issues at hand
If you devote your heart to every project
Not giving credence by any man’s demand
A diligent worker in every respect

If you devote your heart to every project
Never shirking duties that must be done
A diligent worker in every respect
Demonstrating by example to each one

Never shirking duties that must be done
If you are willing to win or lose with grace
Demonstrating by example to each one
Never giving in to wrong to save face

If you are willing to win or lose with grace
To yourself always be honest and true
Never giving in to wrong to save face
If you can keep your head when all about you
