If Poets Ruled the World

If poets ruled the world,
All would be kept in line,
Everybody would know a rhyme,
Or receive a fine.

If poets ruled the world,
We would present poems as we dine,
Or we could choose one to mime,
Which would be fine.

If Poets ruled the world,
We could avoid stepping on a mine,
In our lifetime,
If we had poets to keep us all in line.

I believe that many in this world turn to poetry for encouragement, inspiration, comfort in time of need and so much more. From musical lyrics of the Star Spangled Banner and America to poets past and present we are grateful. Other countries also have their own poetry and songs they venerate. The art of poetry is a gift to all. I enjoyed your poem David. xxoo
