If Only We Could Turn Back the Hands of Time

I can't forget those days when you were mine. How young we were - not even at our prime! Had we held on, could love have grown divine? If only we could turn back the hands of time. What could have been? I guess we'll never know. Although I've never been caught in a crime, a crime it was that day I let you go! If only we could turn back the hands of time. While drowning in my memories of you, I sit in silence while I write this rhyme and wonder if you think the same thing too - if only we could turn back the hands of time! Oct. 9, 2019

My friend, you so vividly expressed the depths of regret that one feels when realizing a mistake that has cost them so dearly. This struck me deep as it expressed so very well my own feelings of what happened in own wild youth! Definitely a gem and a fav too!

i guess every now and then we are left with the what ifs of life, maybe through regrets or memories...sometimes it would be nice to step back momentarily but it would alter the course of time in the present too... good penning my friend :) hugs

"The moving finger writes - and having writ moves on.." That line from Omar Khayam sums up your work nicely. Wish someone would invent a time machine! So far, they exist only in fiction! Peace & Love Matthew Anish

Andrea, Indeed if only...time is the only guarantee it seems. Stars are born, and burn out. Those early days the heart beat a little faster, I think. -Richard

We can all have regrets and wish we could turn back time with our relationships not just romznces but with family too, I was only chatting with someone yesterday about how he wished he could have said things to his mum before she died. I wonder if you contacted this guy now would he still hold a flame for you !!-:) hugs Jan xx
