If Only I Could

It was a dilemma, like choosing betwixt fig and plum, It's not, like the devil and the deep sea, to overcome; It's a task of reestablishing my relationship - A fast friendship that got shattered, of late, like a wrecked ship...! It was, indeed, like a mountain saddle, so deep and wide, An undying love, like a gem treasure, in it, does hide; A small step toward his home, though tough to take, is enough, Our outer silence could not bridle our inner heart cuff...! When the crack of our house widens, don't we repair it, yet? I could not stitch the tear in time, won't; yet, now it will set? It's ego, like a dog in a stable, playing peril, My pride in its prime, shines like a polished chrysoberyl...! Has my friendship been fashioned on a strong rock, I wonder, That could withstand disturbances of breaking asunder? If only I could depend upon it like my heartbeat, I could have, by this time, earnestly fallen on his feet...! Yet, if only I could find him taking a step, slowly, My zeal, like milk at boiling point, could have brim-filled wholly; Now, my initiatives, till the times take their own time, Like seeds in the womb of the earth, will shift the paradigm...!!! 31 March 2023
