If Only

If Only we
 could be
 honest

 to each other
To ourselves
Really

I could ask
You could too
Shields down

so many others
You spoke to
I just got ink

Denials and lashing
I trusted without blink
Mistake

Set up traps
Some real, some fake
Fear over took

your eyes confirmation
Further confusion
How could I want more

Like I said, if only.
