If Only

If only I could tell you
What lies under my tears,
What brings me to life,
What doesn't appear.

I hide it under my skin,
I hide it deep inside,
If only I could show you
What I hide behind my eyes.

If only you knew
The writing under the scars,
The message in my lies,
The pain inside the stars.

It may only be a flesh would,
Just a patch of rough skin.
But it's scarred on my conscience,
My mind remembers it.

If you only knew
The number of times
I counted everything wrong
and nothing that's right.

See, I'm not just a person.
I have a hidden message.
It's inside my bones,
my skin, my mind and my flesh.

The message isn't open,
It's not for anyone to see,
It's for your eyes only,
The truth about me.
