If Only

If only...
I could go back
and erase things of the past

If only...
love would always stay
and forever surely last

If only...
tears were of joy
and never cried of pain

If only...
in the depths of thought
good memories only remain

If only...
on this journey 
I could walk and never fall

If only...
I could reach the top
of mountains grand and tall

If only...
I could leap ahead
and never look behind

If only...
I could one day
stitch this tattered mind
