If not for that day
I lost my faith in men that day.
When you left me shattered by the bay.
You violated a body that was always yours,
Shaken a soul wrapped tight in love’s fragile cocoon.
What you wanted was never me,
Your desires breached what couldn’t be.
Patience was never your way,
You did what none could undo that day.
Yours was the love I once embraced,
You were the one I never replaced.
Those rosy dreams we dreamt together,
Those silly letters, those words forever.
All those years from youth till grown,
All those hours from dusk to dawn.
You were my world, my heart, my plea—
I was yours, and meant to be.
