If Life Was a Book

If Life Was A Book

If life moved along

Like the turning of a page

I would flip back the chapters

That were old, yellowed and aged

I would bend back the corners

Of the best times of my life

And pass through quickly

The ones filled with strife

I would place a book marker

On the times I spent with you

But as sad as it is

Those pages are too few

I would read from cover to cover

Take notes along the way

Of things I would do differently

If I had another day

I would cherish every character

No matter how small were their parts

And take pictures from my mind

And decorate it like art

I would dust off the cover

And place it on a shelve

So I could be reminded daily

Of life’s incredible wealth
