If I Set You Free
I released your hand, and let you fly
Hoping you'd return, with a loving sigh
But the winds of freedom, swept you away
Leaving me with tears, and a heart that's gray
I set you free, with a love so true
But you didn't come back, and I don't know what to do
The silence is deafening, the emptiness a pain
Longing for your touch, but you're gone, and I remain
If you love someone, set them free
But what if they don't return, and I'm left to grieve?
What if the freedom, I gave with an open heart
Becomes the very thing, that tears us apart?
I'll hold on to memories, of the love we shared
But the ache within me, will forever be spared
For I set you free, with a love so pure and bright
But you didn't come back, and now I'm left to face the night.
