If I Ruled the World
If I ruled the world,
I know what I would do,
I’d make smiling compulsory,
Whatever we all do.
I wouldn’t permit scowling,
Or a sad face or a frown,
I’d want a grin from ear to ear,
No ever getting down.
But if you had a reason,
That made smiling much too hard,
I’d give the opportunity,
That brush to get untarred.
I’d let you give the reasons,
Why you did not feel your best,
And use my active listening,
Help you get it off your chest.
I know that life is sometimes bad,
We cant help feeling low,
But smiles help trouble disappear,
Well sometimes, as you know.
You know smiles are contagious,
So a smile would be my tack,
And after listening to you,
I hope you’d give me one back.
So it’s my plan for all of us,
That I have now unfurled,
Our lives enhanced by smiling,
If I ever ruled the world!
