If I Have Time

If I have the time today,
I’ll visit with my mom and dad.
I know their health is getting bad,
but Mom insists, “We’re both okay!”

Next month I’m hoping to arrange
a get-together with old friends,
the first in ages, but time tends
to slip away. Time will not change.

I know I need to spend more time
on Bible study and church work.
These matters, I should never shirk;
throughout my life, they should be prime.

    ********************

When time runs out and goals aren’t met,
excuses won’t alleviate
the hurt we’ve caused. Since time won’t wait,
priorities, we all must set.

Sounds like a great plan--we never have enough time to spend with family and friends. Your poem is so real life, Janice--most can relate to this.
