If I Had Three Wishes
Can fairy tales be part of life,
Or does it only seem
That a Cinderella slipper
Can be part of every dream?
I won't pretend to know it all,
I'm really not that smart.
But, some things will not be denied --
They live inside my heart.
If I had three wishes, I'd use only one.
I'd wish all your love could be mine.
The two that were left, I'd give someone else --
To hold them would be too unkind.
To know you were mine for the rest of my life
Would, all my hopes, far exceed.
If I had three wishes, I'd use only one.
The other two I wouldn't need.
All the things I'll ever want --
The dreams I've always hidden --
Could be granted by a single wish
That, till now, has been forbidden.
Two idle wishes would remain
For someone else to own.
A single wish would give me more
Than anyone has ever known.
