If I could fly
The river is deep,
Too swift and wide,
No bridge or boat, I can't get o'er.
Somewhere waits love on the other side,
If I could fly, across I'd soar.
The mountain is steep,
Too high and rough,
Somewhere beyond is waiting love.
No path around, beneath, or through,
If I could fly, I'd sail above.
The road's been long,
My feet are sore,
And weary to my soul am I.
I dare not close my eyes to rest
Lest while I sleep love passes by.
Now time's run out,
I can't go on,
Searched everywhere that love could be.
But soon I'll fly to a place unknown
Where love has flown and waits for me.
