If I Could Choose My Imaginary Friend
It might be a T-Rex dinosaur
to scare off big bullies with a roar
or Archimedes to help with math;
while I linger, ponder, in the bath.
A space astronaut would be quite swell
to give me some super tales to tell.
A friend like a Prince, King, or Queen may
keep the bitter, spiteful boys away.
Perhaps that tin man who found his heart
because I do not know where to start;
just anyone who can show me how
Shelly, Byron, Leopardi, ciao!
Each night I lie, imagine my list
doctor, nurse, Olympic medalist,
the man who discovered old King Tut,
a dashing knight, a train driver; but,
I am blessed with Eugene - in pink hat,
who does not do anything like that.
