If I can
If I be what I’m and stay ever so,
My cares and concerns if live a bit low,
If painful memories vanish by morn
O to wipe out my life’s whispering woes,
If I can forget pains like a newborn,
And be like a blank page that not so knows….
If I can toss tired dreams like teens in love,
Cherish things a while and onward can move
To new goal posts to dream my dreams anew,
And can treat my sordid shadows in scorn,
Which, may chase me a while and lost sans clue,
If my night-old cares die by early morn….
If so, let vast shiploads of my grey dreams
Wrack on high seas, or amidst rocks in streams
To be flotsam to drift to unknown lands,
Let me then re-live fond childhood backwards
Amid raw Nature, lonely stars as friends,
And live as if there’s no care in all worlds.
