If Every Day

If every day
you set about
to dig a little trench,

and though the end
is far away,
you carve another inch,

and all the while,
enjoy the craft,
admire the progress made,

that length of trench
will melt away:
persistent toil, well paid.

This is soooo true, Jeff. It is amazing the progress that can be made just a wee bit every day. All skyscrapers were begun with breaking the ground!

a lesson taught to us over years of "hurry up", when we finally realize we can't bull our way through things quickly any more!

Thank you, sir! I have found many a big job can melt away if you can focus on the immediate.
