IF ANYTHING

IF ANYTHING If anything, I must stop it right now Well before it grows and dominates I should never have tempted the fates With low hanging fruit on the bough If anything, it was never my intention It is the birth of pride, and so strong And will start to take over before long As the mind succumbs, as is convention If anything, a temptation I must reject Yet it is so seductive, as it looks at me It swells inside, deserving no sympathy Smiling, as mere humility has no effect If anything, I’d prefer that it was gone As I have seen what such pride can do It’ll be good for me, but also for you At least it’s something to think upon
