Idle Chit Chat

On the way home With my kids in tow To the all night Supermarket we'd go For a late night treat that we bought each week Our favorite pie ala mode As an introvert I'm not given to talking to those I don't know Except sometimes I Just can't resist when the spirit bids me so As I stood in line behind these three little Asian guys ahead Who were buying round angle food cakes and And cigarettes unfiltered instead Before I could zip up My pie hole As the register started to sing I asked what have you guys got planned tonight Gonna go home and blow smoke rings

I, too, have found, of late, that I'm striking up conversations with people before or behind me in line...usually at Walmart...and/or the cashier. I think it's partially because I'm spending so much time alone due to COVID concerns that I'm getting desperate for "idle chitchat".

Perhaps this pandemic has shown all of us we are indeed in the same boat ,the S.S.Humanity . We won't go into the name of the creek we found ourselves on or the absence of a means of locomotion.Seriously,I can see what you mean Jim.
