Identity
As very young children, we did what we did in a non-reflective way
No critical thinking or questioning about our being okay.
As a school- age child other's reactions begin to be learned
Beginning to integrate how approval was something to be earned.
As a teen self-conscious and uncertain, as if being on display;
A persona affected by the audience of the day.
The pursuit of crossing that line
As a clearer self begins to define.
Less need for other's validation
More self-affirmation.
As less outer pursuant,
An individual more congruent.
Each a separate entity...
The cherished gift of identity.
