Icu Baby

Seconds, minutes, days, weeks, years
Now I just cry happy tears
Since the day that I found out
What miracles are all about
A helpless baby small and frail
Tiny lungs not being able
To help breath life into
A preemie who's precious and new
Always staying by your side
Watching tubes keep you alive
Sending prayers up every night
Never giving up the fight
That soon you'll be coming home
Breathing on your very own
Doctors, nurses, families too
Forms a group support for you
New crib, toys and teddy bears
Fill a room with no one there
Sadness turned to joy one day
When I heard the doctor say
No more tubes for little one
Months of treatment finally done
Now your home where you belong
Being healthy--- staying strong
Playing, crawling, having laughs
Safe and loved from a bad past

An amazing poem Robin. I watched friends go through this and I saw how hard it was. I'm so glad you had a happy ending. Congratulations on your win.

Was wondering whether it is a true life experience Robin. You precisely captured the mood, scene and emotion. Great poem. This is my first read on your poems. I love it....JM

Love and life are an incredible and wonderful mystery. I don't know if you are viewing this as part of a professional career or if it from personal experience, however, you have a wonderful eye.
