Ice Cream Man

Here comes Jolly Joe the ice cream man. We loved congregating when we heard his bell. We always heard it one street away, so we ran inside. Begging quarters and dimes off all of our grownups. It was disappointing when they said “no”, but then they said yes, oh, my! What a treat!

Back in the hills, we didn't have an ice cream man, but we could go about half-a-mile to a little store and get ice cream on a stick for a nickle. Yep, we could.

Hello Caren, Your husband at age 11 had a great idea. He must have made a lot of money at that time. Hugs.

My husband at age 11 had a freezer on the back of a bike. it said Jolly Joe's ice cream and he sold popsicles out of it to people on break who worked at the pants factory where his father worked.
