I Wrote This Poem For You

Today is National Poetry Day
So I really must write a Poem
“Oh not again” I hear you say
But it’s mandatory on this special day

At 6.15 the sky still black
I wish the sunshine would come back
But sunrise won’t be seen today
Until the mist has cleared away
So until then I’ll write my poem
To celebrate National Poetry Day

The blue sky getting lighter
As the day is getting brighter
Such adventures to explore
As I exit through my door
There is so much I can do
As new ventures I pursue

A trip to a Gallery always a thrill
Viewing Constable’s paintings one more time
I adore his Chain Pier and his Blatchington Mill
His Elm Tree astounding
His Seascapes divine

Whatever I do and the sights I may see
They will always inspire me to write poetry
To share the feelings that hide deep inside
If I left them unused they may wither and die

Although it’s not one of my best
I had to get it off my chest
To release my inner poet they say
Sit down and write a poem a day

So on this most prestigious day
I share my thoughts with you
For today is National Poetry Day
And I wrote this poem
So please review

Here in the states I think we have selected April as National Poetry Month, so I am wondering do all countries have a National Poetry Day or a National Poetry Month? This poem makes me wonder big about this.

Hi Caren, yes here in England National Poetry Day is today (see the following sent to me by my friend) 'National Poetry Day 2018 - Thursday 4 October 2018' so I would assume that maybe different countries have allocated different dates for this annual event. Happy days, Ann x
