I Wrote This Poem For You
Today is National Poetry Day
So I really must write a Poem
“Oh not again” I hear you say
But it’s mandatory on this special day
At 6.15 the sky still black
I wish the sunshine would come back
But sunrise won’t be seen today
Until the mist has cleared away
So until then I’ll write my poem
To celebrate National Poetry Day
The blue sky getting lighter
As the day is getting brighter
Such adventures to explore
As I exit through my door
There is so much I can do
As new ventures I pursue
A trip to a Gallery always a thrill
Viewing Constable’s paintings one more time
I adore his Chain Pier and his Blatchington Mill
His Elm Tree astounding
His Seascapes divine
Whatever I do and the sights I may see
They will always inspire me to write poetry
To share the feelings that hide deep inside
If I left them unused they may wither and die
Although it’s not one of my best
I had to get it off my chest
To release my inner poet they say
Sit down and write a poem a day
So on this most prestigious day
I share my thoughts with you
For today is National Poetry Day
And I wrote this poem
So please review
