I Would Like To Fall In Love Again
You once said that you love me
And would be proud to be my wife
And the love that grows inside
Would do so for all your life
You once said that you adore me
And all the little things I do
And the best things of all
Were those things I do to you
Now, I sleep in the guest room
And you hardly speak to me
And those few words you do say
Are full of apathy
I can’t remember our last kiss
And you cringe upon my touch
I’m not sure when the love left
But it’s abandoned both of us
I would like to fall in love again
And I would like my lover to be you
Do you think we can re-spark the flame
Given all that we’ve been through
I know that I’ve grown old and fat
And no longer have my hair
But I know that the love I felt
Still festers down in there
You once said that you love me
I once responded back in kind
Do you think the adoration lost
Is something we can find
Do you think that the joy we felt
Enwrapped in each other’s arms
Is something these old folks can find
Or is it now long gone
I would like to fall in love again
And I would like my lover to be you
I would like to find the joy again
That the two of us once knew
