I Would Like My Funeral Now

I would like my funeral now, before I die. Pallbearers unnecessary, but I would like a blue sky. I will bring the food, the people, and I will rent the hall. Grave service unnecessary, too bleak and all. I would like my funeral now if you please. It is a gorgeous day, and there is a beautiful breeze. Family unnecessary, I will bring my own kinds of friends. Only positive speeches, approved by my bestie, Dog Mends. Do not try to put anything past that fat cat. She will not be bothered, or care where I am at. I would like my funeral now, this very sweet day. I want to listen and approve what you say.

If we believe in an after life, heck! For me, no wake. Bands and foods from my Fav nations. Non stop dancing and syncopation. Everyone come in their best costume ever.I'll watch from my Urn...such exotic splendor. No speeches, no tears aloud. A fun funeral is all I ask. Panagiota-))

I will be there, in spirit my friend! But I may make a teeny speech.

Why do I get the feeling that you're going to get it beforehand? A rather unusual take on funerals. Me, I'd rather have a Wake but, along with the irish music I also want a dixieland jazz band. That'll give relatives something to gossip about! So, when will it be?

I was thinking sometime this summer; at a place to be announced. Everyone I like is invited. Those I do not like will never know where or when, of course. I will email my favorites. But not my family, as they would not think it as hilarous as me!

Great poem, and great idea!! I normally hate funerals (and generally refuse to go)... but living, invitation-only funerals sound like fun... ESPECIALLY if you (& Trixie) are planning the party! ;D

great idea, caren! i've instructed my husband that at my funeral i don't want anyone to say anything about me - i want people to read poems of mine instead and you're right - it would be great to be around to hear it!

I threw this out as a "teaser idea" Jan; if it catches on I can be a funeral-planner, like a wedding planner, except the person will still be around, and it will be a tribute, not a roast. Best of all, the non-deceased gets to decide who to invite, and it is invitation only.
