I Wonder --- Do You Understand

When we’re together sometimes
And I reach and cover your hand with mine –
When our eyes meet as we’re holding hands –
I wonder – Do you understand?

Without you the nights are long.
So, I sit and search for the words to a song.
I think of things to say when I can –
And I wonder – Do you understand?

Do you understand the way that I feel?
Don’t you feel my love for you
When we sit and hold each other’s hand?
When, with my eyes, I speak of love –
I wonder – Do you understand?

Someday, somehow, in some future time
When our love has stood the test of time –
My soul will ask, as we’re holding hands –
I wonder – Do you understand?

Do you understand the way that I feel?
Don’t you feel my love for you
When we sit and hold each other’s hand?
When, with my eyes, I speak of love –
I wonder – Do you understand?
