I Wish You Knew Me

"I wish you knew me"
He said the other day
And as I sat there looking back
There was nothing I could say

Years of friendship
And we still didn't know it all
The roots of who made who
Emotions trapped behind a wall

After a pause I whispered
"I wish you knew me, too"
And as we slowly departed
We knew we were through
