I Wish You Comfort and Joy
When did your life slip far away from all things pleasurable?
And how is it I see myself in your relentless sadness?
If I may I'll take your hand and bring you joy immeasurable.
Believe me when I say that I have too been lost in madness.
I know that you can also find your way back to some gladness.
When I was younger things just rolled off my back like a duck.
Even when the tides were high it didn't seem so daunting.
Every day was a new day of transcending bad luck.
Pictures made me smile and faces looking back weren't taunting.
In this shift of righteous fear the past is often haunting.
But now you see I've fought my way out of this life-long maze.
I wish to calm you,give you hope and bring you some relief.
Forgive the storms and know you are the master of your days.
Try to see that life holds more for you than pain and grief.
Don't let heartache steal your bliss like some insolent thief!
Let's travel on into this life and take things as they come.
I'll be your cheering section when you're feeling way down low.
Just know that there are no mistakes the place that we are from.
Soon as you love another you'll acquire your long-lost glow.
These things I've learned on life's hard path and I want you to know.
