I Wish Someone Told Me

I wish someone told me That the world was worse off than I thought That things are worse than what you can see I wish that someone said this is how it is going to be: Making it in this world is a longshot And you will likely come up empty I wish that someone told me That there are many who are distraught And many who do not know what it means to be truly free I wish that someone said this is how it is going to be: They expect you to fix problems they forgot Though the things to fix, you cannot see I wish that someone told me That there are some things that cannot be taught And those things define your reality But how do we sort through this debris? How do we face this onslaught? “Well, it’s your job to find the key.”
